Sterling J. Santamaria

As an immigrant himself, Mr. Santamaria understands the need to limit immigration consequences for criminal defendants who are not United States citizens. As such, he has fought hard to limit the harsh deportation consequences that can follow a plea in criminal court while also working diligently to obtain legal status for persons wishing to become permanent residents.

At the Law Offices of Robert Tsigler, Mr. Santamaria mainly handles immigration matters as  well as New Jersey criminal cases. As part of the firm’s immigration department, he advises the other departments as to the possible immigration consequences that follow certain dispositions in criminal cases and family cases.

From an early age, Mr. Santamaria made it his mission to become an attorney so that he could help persons in situations similar to those he experienced when he was an undocumented immigrant. He obtained a B.A. in Jurisprudence from Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, from where he graduated cum laude. After that, he obtained his law degree from New York Law School in New York City.

Mr. Santamaria began his career in New Jersey by representing clients in various matters such as criminal defense, landlord-tenant litigation, foreclosure defense, and civil litigation. After developing a reputation for tireless work and aggressive representation, Mr. Santamaria joined the Law Offices of Robert Tsigler to bring the same level of dedication and tirelessness to clients in New York.
